We have been learning about the similarities and differences between our area and the rainforest. Watch our rainforest fact presentations!
We worked so hard to earn our Spring Class Dojo treat which was going for a walk. We got togged up in our wellies and waterproofs and walked along the village to this field where we found excellent opportunities for splashing in puddles, racing down and climbing back up the big hill. Great fun!
In our Computing sessions this half term we have been learning about computer hardware and its uses. We are learning to use the class iPad to take photographs of our play and our friends. Here we are honing our skills!
This week we all enjoyed a dance workshop with Pip from Dance with Pip! It was great fun
Reception have been working hard to create this 'Fairground' inspired dance
Learning to recite the poem 'I am Me!' in our literacy sessions. Next week we will innovate our own stanzas.
We have been learning all about shapes in both Nursery and Reception and decided to go on a shape hunt around Slaley to see what 2d or 3d shapes we could find. The children found triangle and rectangle windows, lots of circles on car wheels and even a ladybug with lots of circles on it making a pattern.

We are taking part in the RSPB Big Bird Watch for schools. We have been using binoculars to spot birds, ticking them off on our charts, using identification guides to help us work out what they are, and making bird feeders to attract them to our garden.

Larch Class thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Newcastle City Centre and the Great North Museum. We went by coach to the city centre so we could walk down Northumberland Street and compare Newcastle City Centre to Slaley Village. There was so much traffic, buildings and people!
We walked to the Great North Museum: Hancock and explored the Living Planet and Natural Northumbria galleries using a game and a story bag we had borrowed from the museum.

We finished our visit with a workshop led by museum staff called 'Creatures Great and Small' where we had to listen carefully to clues to guess each animal. We did some animal yoga and interacted with skins and furs from real animals!
What a busy day! Thank you so much to our amazing parent helpers who made it possible.
