'Pupils and their parents and carers value the interaction between pupils of all ages, typified by the buddy system, at breaktime.' Ofsted 2019.

For many years now, we have ran a scheme here at school where our Year Four pupils act as Buddies for all of the other pupils throughout the school. To become a Buddy, the Year Three pupils have to formally apply to become one. There is an interview process and they have to pass to be able to begin the training process. The application process is taken seriously and it is not a foregone conclusion that everyone who applies is accepted as pupils do need to have the appropriate qualities and skills to be a successful Buddy. Applications are opened just before Half-term in May, with interviews being held in June. The new Buddies then work alongside the Year Fours for the rest of the Half-term.
