Meet the School Council
All pupils in Years 1 to 4 have the opportunity to elect a representative for the School Council, which meets regularly to discuss the children’s ideas. They meet with Miss McCall, our teacher responsible for the Student Council. The representatives then feed back to their peers after each meeting, so that everyone in school is aware of the issues which have been discussed.
The Council has discussed issues ranging from school safety to promoting healthy eating. Fundraising activities, such as sponsored walks and Sport Relief events have been undertaken. At Slaley, we believe that involvement in the School Council raises children’s self-esteem and develops good speaking and listening skills. In addition, it gives children ownership and responsibility preparing for good citizenship.
