Tri-golf Competition

As part of the Sports’ Premium that the Government pay to all schools, pupils are encouraged to take part in competitions between schools in order to have a winning team to progress to County Level Finals.

On Friday March 23rd, our Year 3 and 4 pupils were invited to take part in a Tri – Golf Competition, which was held at Close House. This competition was organised by Mr Damien Dimmock who is employed by Northumberland County Council to develop the provision of School Sport.

Our Year 3s and 4s had received three sessions of coaching from one of the Golf Professionals from Close House in the weeks before the competition. This ensured that, along with their PE sessions, they were well-prepared and confident about taking part.

The competition was based on a carousel of eight holes using different golf skills with the emphasis being on fun. The pupils were not taking part as individuals but as a team. Our pupils had five minutes on each activity in order to score as many points as possible.

The event was very well organised and the pupils were well-supported by pupils from Ovingham Middle School. All our pupils who took part, thoroughly enjoyed the event.

The only downside was the weather, which was dull and overcast, but at least it didn’t rain until we were on the bus on the way back to school!

We scored 233 points which was an excellent score, but sadly not enough to get us through to the Final. We came tenth out of eighteen schools that attended the event.

Congratulations to all the pupils who took part, you were great representatives of our school.
