Swimming Success!
On Monday 1st July, Year Three and Four went to the Wentworth Leisure Centre to take part in the Annual Swimming Gala. This is organised every year by the staff of the Wentworth Swimming Programme. Once again, this was a well-organised event, with many of our local schools taking part. The atmosphere was excellent, with very enthusiastic participants loudly cheering their team mates in every event.

We had a team of twelve swimmers from both Year Three and Year Four. Every swimmer that took part swam as hard as they could and tried their very best.

We had our most successful year ever with all our pupils celebrating each other’s success.

We had nine pupils making the Finals in their individual events. For the first time ever, we had a relay team that made the Final too.

In the 25m events,  one of our Year Three team members, won a GOLD MEDAL in the breaststroke in an amazing swim. Another Year Three pupil, won a BRONZE MEDAL in the Dolphin stroke race. This is a new event that no one had taken part in before. We also had another two pupils make Finals in the 25m events as well. Congratulations to all of you!

In the 15m events, we had 5 team members and the Relay team make the Finals in their events. Congratulations to Joe, Archie, Imogen and Sarah for getting into the Finals of their events. The Relay team, after a tremendous swim, won a BRONZE MEDAL. Joe, one of our Year Four pupils, won a SILVER MEDAL in Back Crawl, and a GOLD MEDAL in the Breaststroke.

To complete a wonderful morning of achievements, we then discovered that our 15m team of Joe, Archie, Imogen, Sarah and Jasmine had scored enough points to win the Overall Champions Cup. This is currently being engraved with our school’s name, and then we can proudly display it in our school for a year.

An amazing day! An amazing team of 12 swimmers, two immensely proud members of staff, and  an audience of super supportive parents supporting TEAM SLALEY. Well done!
