Skipping Festival – 26.9.19

On Thursday 26th September, the pupils in Year Two, Three and Four, went to the Wentworth Leisure Centre to take part in a Skipping Festival. The Festival was organised by Helen Robson, our area’s new School Games Organiser. The Festival was led by Chris Corcoran and his team of expert skippers.

The Festival was very well-attended with roughly a 150 children experiencing a morning of skipping activities. Children were encouraged to “have-a-go” at all the activities on offer and everyone felt that they had really improved by the end of the session.

This was the first time that Year Two had been able to attend any School Games event. When asked if they had enjoyed the experience, each one gave a big “thumbs up” and had a big smile on their face. We look forward to being able to take them to more Festivals in the future.

We have recently purchased a range of new skipping equipment and we’re looking forward to the pupils who attended the Festival, sharing their new skills with the other pupils in school. Our Year Four Buddies are hoping to hold a SFS Skipping Festival so that everyone can enjoy an activity that develops fitness and stamina and is such good fun!
