'Lessons & Carols'
17th December 2019
Christmas Carol Service
Today, the children took their 'Nativity' message to St. Mary's Church in the Village for the third year. We had been kindly invited back by Rev. Helen who always makes us feel incredibly welcome and an integral part of the village community.
This year, we decided to present a more traditional Christmas service, but with some modern twists. In the place of some of the Carols there were Christmas songs and each year group performed their own poem. The story of the first Christmas was told alongside the excitement of building snowmen when it snows!
Pupils helped to choreograph and organise the presentation of the poems with Year 2 writing their own with Mrs. O'Neill.
The children in EYFS also sang the first verse of Away in a Manger on their own whilst using Makaton to sign at the same time - it was absolutely beautiful!
The full programme is attached below.
Our service finished with a very special message, delivered by Archie, Bea, Amy and Sarah in Year 4.
'Christmas is more than a day in December
It's the love and the magic that we'll always remember.' Miro.
So from all of the staff and pupils at Slaley First School we wish you a very:
Happy New Year
