A celebration of Harvest
"Harvest is about showing how much you care by sharing foods that we grow with others. Harvest at school is a time where we sing harvest songs and show how grateful we are to have so much to be thankful for."
Rev. Helen Savage kindly invited the school to celebrate Harvest at St. Mary's Church again this year. Many parents and grandparents took time out to join us along with Rev. David Goodhall - the church was full and there was a lovely atmosphere!
The children sang enthusiastically, especially when it came to the Harvest Samba and we were made to feel extremely welcome at the heart of our rural, village community.
In the afternoon, the children in Class 2 delivered harvest gifts from Slaley First School to the residents of Parks Side Bungalows, Connie & Bobby at the bungalow and Mrs. Escritt.
The residents said it was a lovely surprise to open the door and see a 'polite young child' holding a gift of food.
Thank you to all those people who made a kind donation and enabled us to do this again this year.
