A celebration of Harvest
A report by Shelby - Year 4
Harvest is about giving and caring by giving foods that we grow. Harvest at school is a time where we sing harvest songs to people and we are kind to one another.
Rev. Helen Savage kindly invited the school to celebrate Harvest at St. Mary's Church as the Methodist Chapel has now closed. Many parents and grandparents took time out to join us along with Rev. David Goodhall. The children sang enthusiastically (with actions!) and we were made to feel extremely welcome at the heart of the community.
In the afternoon, the children in Class 2 delivered harvest gifts from Slaley First School to the residents of Parks Side Bungalows.
The residents said it was a lovely surprise to open the door and see a 'polite young child' holding a gift of food.
Thank you to all those people who made a kind donation and enabled us to do this again this year.
