Gymnastics Competition - Year 3&4.

On Friday 18th January, our Year Three and Four pupils went to the Annual Gymnastics Competition at the Wentworth Leisure Centre. This event is organised by the School Games Organiser for Active Northumberland and is open for all First schools in Northumberland.

We entered a team of six gymnasts, three pupils from each year group. These were the six highest scoring gymnasts from the competition we held in school just before Christmas. Only one of our team had competed in this competition before, so it was a new experience for them!

The pupils had to perform two routines in front of two separate panels of judges. Each of the routines contained a range of skills that tested all areas of the gymnastic curriculum. They were judged to a very high standard and all performed really well. All six controlled their nerves, performing their routines with great concentration and skill. We were really proud of their attitude and level of commitment. More importantly, they all really enjoyed taking part and are looking forward to taking part in more competitions in the future.

While our team of six were competing, the rest of the class were able to use one of the practice mats so that they could find out what it was like to take part. Mr Dimmock ( the School Games Organiser) was very impressed with the standard of performance from all of them.

Our team came joint sixth out of nineteen schools taking part, a result we are all really proud of. Well done to our team!
