EYFS trip to Cogito Books

6th February 2020
On Thursday 6th February, our Early Years children went on a very special visit to Cogito Books in Hexham. To round off our topic on Traditional Tales, we visited the bookshop for a storytelling session based around the stories we read.

Claire from the shop was very impressed by the children's knowledge and excitement about the stories of The Three Little Pigs, Golidlocks, and Jack and the Beanstalk, which we have studied in-depth this half term.

She read us a wonderful story called Franklin and Luna and the book of Fairy tales, where we stepped into the book and went on an adventure with lots of different fairy tale characters. It was so exciting!

We then met Stanley the Amazing Knitting Cat, a story which was extra special because it's author, Emily Mackenzie, went to Slaley First School just like us! We learned to draw Stanley using different shapes - we produced some real masterpieces!

All in all, this was a great trip which really helped to consolidate our learning, promote our growing love of stories and even inspire us to create our own!
