European Day of Languages

27th September 2017

The European Day of Languages (EDL) is celebrated across Europe on the 26th of September every year. It aims to promote the rich linguistic diversity of Europe and raise awareness of the importance of lifelong language learning for everyone. It was set up by the Council of Europe and was first celebrated in 2001.

In Slaley we celebrated  on Wednesday 27th September with a delicious meal cooked by our head chef Madame Seymour and served by Yr 4 . Class 1 got to grips with colour in French whilst Class 2 compared different  European languages. They listened to part of Goldilocks in Italian, Spanish, French and German and became quite good at recognising each language. This tied in well with their work on Twisted Fairytales in English.

Lego characters chatted to each other in each of the languages.

We'd like to pass on our thanks to Ms. Roff for co-ordinating this day: THANK YOU!
