Coding with Hexham First School

1st February 2017

Year 3 & 4 - Two Coding Days

A group of children from Hexham First School, who have been trained to show other children and teachers how to code, have been in working with Class 2 on the 1st and 8th of February.

Slaley is the first school the young trainers have visited, so it is rather an exciting project and opportunity for all of us!

Learning about coding is an important part of the ICT curriculum.  Our children have been working on the fundamental building blocks of form, colour, pitch, tone and texture in order to code a piece of music and then code an animation which is driven by the music.

This exciting project was overseen by Mr Marc McKiernan from the Haltwhistle Film Project which also provided all the necessary equipment for the sessions to take place.

On behalf of our KS2 pupils I would like to extend a very big 'THANK YOU' to Ms. Roff and Ms. Jackson (Headteacher at Hexham First School) for co-ordinating this exciting opportunity for our children.
