Slaley First School serves the areas of Slaley, Blanchland and Minsteracres. Our school has an admission number of 10 pupils per year group.

It is now necessary for all parents to express a preference for the school they wish their child to attend. If you would like your child to attend Slaley First School, then applications should be made via the School Admissions department at Northumberland County Council.

Moving Schools (In-Year Transfer)

If you are wishing to be considered to transfer from another school to Slaley First School, please apply online through Northumberland County Council, further information can be found here.  Feel free to ring and arrange to come and visit us!

Any in year applications will be dealt with by 31 August at the latest each year.

We currently have limited places available throughout school, including nursery.

Children who attend Slaley First School usually transfer at the end of year 4 to Corbridge Middle School, Hexham or St Joseph's Middle School. At the age of 13 and above, most children go on to  to Queen Elizabeth High School, Hexham.

A common application form for transfer is completed in the Autumn term prior to transition to the Middle School. Applications opened on the 12th of September 2023. Please follow the link below -

Over-subscription criteria

If you are told that our school is over subscribed,  your child will automatically be placed on the waiting list for our school. You will receive a letter with further details in, and information about how to appeal this decision to an independent appeals panel.

The deadline for lodging appeals will allow at least 20 school days from the date of notification to prepare and lodge a written appeal.
