Bags 2 School Collection – June 2021
FoSS arranged another Bags 2 school collection after the success of the last one. Everyone was very keen to have a good clear out and many black bags full of good quality second-hand clothing and shoes filled the tent ready for collection. The items all make their way to charity while also raising £90 for school, a winning result all round.
Huge thanks to all of the families who filled so many bags, hopefully something we can do again.

FOSS Pop-up Fashion Event – Friday 28th February 2020

In order to support the children’s focus on recycling, we had a new event on Friday focusing on fashion, books and crafting (with some obligatory cake!) Thank you to everyone who supported the event; it was a really fab hour with some excellent bargains and fascinating finds. The children had fun on the craft table making all sorts of wonderful creations from items that would otherwise be thrown out (plus a fair amount of sparkle and googly eyes). Everyone enjoyed the refreshments (big thanks to the bakers!) and we even had a couple of glamorous volunteers for the catwalk to display their outfit creations.

An excellent event for everyone to have a good clear-out while finding some fabulous bargains. We were thrilled to have made £298.68 in total, definitely a win win for home and school funds.

FoSS Christmas Fayre
29.11.19

Thank you for supporting our Christmas Fayre on Friday. It was a festive event featuring Christmas crafts, music, mulled wine, special reindeer and some fantastic artwork from all the children of Slaley First School. From writing and posting your own letter to Santa, decorating your own gingerbread men to tattoos and candy dippers, there was lots to do. The hall was decorated with only a few of Shannon's 24 boxes of baubles and other festive ornaments and a lovely tree decorated by more of the children's handmade creations.

There were some fabulous raffle prizes and hampers won by: Cara Stephenson, Charlotte Douglas, Susan Lamb, Mrs Brett, Claire Hart, Preston's grandparents, Andrea Foster, Tom Brown and Madeline's Grandma. Madeline also won 'Olaf' as she correctly guessed 51 baubles in the light up snowman decoration! Santa's little helper 'Elfie' made sure that letters to Santa were posted in the magic post box (made by Karen). Charlotte and Andrea provided a range of refreshments from the kitchen and the 'tuck shop' with individually packaged sweets and home-baking. Whilst Angelica sold her fabulous 'build your edible snowman', Amanda finished the event covered in glitter, a firm favourite on the craft stall.

And of course, it would not have been a festive event without Alan Ogle's special reindeer...the best behaved sheep you'll ever meet (well apart from a little mishap)....well when you have to go, you have to go!

So another massive "Thank You" to everyone who contributed and/or supported the event. We have raised an amazing £482.13!

Best wishes,

 Halloween Disco -  24th October 2018

A massive thank you to everyone who turned up and supported our Early Halloween disco yesterday. A fantastic 50 hyper Monsters and Ghouls (and some princesses and Hulks thrown in to boot) checked in to Commemmoration Hall as they were entertained by ‘Discoman’ John. There were prizes given for Best Costume and Best Dancing which were won by Robin Irish and Bea Stephenson respectively. It’s fab to get the kids together for a last ‘hooray’ before half-term begins. The photos will be on the Website shortly!!

A HUGE thanks to Leanne, Phil and Rachel for helping to decorate the Hall, it looked amazing…well you can never have too many spooky decorations!!!  Thanks also to Claire and her hubby for making some last minute giant spiders (one of which was last seen flying high in the direction of Slaley Hall). Thanks to everyone else helping at the Disco (Jacqui, Cara, Joanna, Penny, Charlotte and Ching)…your help means we can continue to run these types of events, so “Thank you!”
