Admissions

Slaley First School serves the areas of Slaley, Blanchland and Minsteracres. Our school has an admission number of 10 pupils per year group.

It is now necessary for all parents to express a preference for the school they wish their child to attend. Usually, this is the appropriate school for their address. Applications should be made via the School Admissions department at Northumberland County Council. Applications can be made online. Applications for reception places for September 2017 are available online from 1st November 2016 and should be received by School Admissions by 10th January 2017. Parents will be notified of awarded places by 18th April 2017.The preference forms are available from school and should be received in school no later than the 17th of December of the year before your child begins full time education.

Some parents request that their children should attend a school outside their catchment area. Northumberland County Council aims to comply with parental requests, whenever space is available in the requested school. The Council’s Information for Parents Booklet provides full information about arrangements in Northumberland and copies are available from the Council (tel. no. 01670 533000).

Children who attend Slaley First School usually transfer at the age of 9 and above to Corbridge Middle School and then at the age of 13 and above to Queen Elizabeth High School, Hexham. A common application form for transfer is completed in the Autumn term prior to transition to the Middle School.
