Summer 2009 Topics
|
Foundation Unit – This half term's topic is
‘space’. We will use the story “Whatever Next” as a starting point,
talking about space travel, the planets and aliens! We will also spend a
little time thinking about “flight” and ways of travelling through the
air. Weekly cookery / baking sessions will take place on Friday mornings
and daily outdoor activities are planned (to take advantage of the good
weather!) These will include planting potatoes and seeds as well as
exploring our new outdoor area which is almost finished.
|
Year 1 / 2 - This half term topics focus on plants, with
practical activities and experiments, using our new outdoor area.
Literacy is linked to topic activities, with an emphasis on different
recording methods. Maths will also develop recording and data skills.
This will include collecting data, recording in graphs and interpreting
findings. Number and money are continuous elements. Children will be
involved in designing garden equipment and playgrounds in their DT work.
In RE we will focus on the Jewish faith and the custom of Jewish people.
The children will continue to increase their understanding of E-Safety
as they use a number of web sites to explore plants. Another busy half
term packed with lots of outside work, so fingers crossed the sun will
shine on our gardens!
